Kazakh Transport Minister, Korean Ambassador discussed cooperation in transport sphere

Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Berik Kamaliyev and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan Lee Buyng-hwa met in Astana Tuesday; Kazinform refers to the Transport Ministry’s press service.

Kamaliyev expressed the hope that on the eve of official visit of President Lee Myung-bak to Kazakhstan that meeting would promote further development of mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries. The sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in transport sphere.

Berik Kamaliyev confirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to sign a memo between the transport ministries of the two countries in the railway service. The Kazakh side also expressed interest in developing cooperation with Samsung on the introduction of new technologies and payment systems on the roads. The parties agreed to establish a working group on elaboration of consultation mechanisms for cooperation in this area.

In conclusion, the Minister of Transport and Communications expressed hope that the forthcoming visit of Korean President would give new impetus to the positive development of trade and economic relations between the two states.
